The word ATWA was created by Charles Manson and his friends during the early 1970s to represent a basic environmental philosophy. Air is first, because nearly all life forms require air to exist. Trees create oxygen. Water is needed by trees, animals including humans, plants, and all life on Earth. Animals are crucial to maintaining a balance of natural life. "All The Way Alive" is a state of being which is vitally important for our connection to the Earth, to all of Nature, all of Life.
When we discover that we need Air, Trees, Water, Animals, we become All The Way Alive.
ATWAinteractive is a place to discuss the possibility of redeeming our Earth.
Charles discovered that each time he got out of prison, the environment had suffered worse degradation. He was aware that there were fewer trees, that the rivers and lakes were becoming more polluted, and that whole species of wildlife were dying. He noticed the negative effects that hydro-electric dams had on the rivers of his beloved Tennessee Valley. The fishing was harmed, and there were fewer turtles and shore birds.
During the 1960s, Charles began discussing his environmental theories with the young folks whom he encountered in California. They experimented with conservation, alternative energy, gardening, recycling, vegetarianism, and other concepts that were so new at the time that they seemed revolutionary.
Today, more and more people are discovering ATWA for themselves. It's for our own survival.
